35 Years of Impact

Celebrating people, purpose, and philanthropy.

For 35 years, DGB Global has supported Australia’s for-purpose and education sector to unlock generosity and deliver life-changing projects. From humble beginnings to national leadership, we remain driven by excellence, trust, and donor-centred practice — and by the belief that philanthropy transforms communities.

1990-1995
Foundations of Philanthropy

“Where purpose met possibility.”

Founded with a vision to elevate philanthropy and strengthen fundraising across Australia.

DGB Global quickly launched its first major capital campaign and built early partnerships with charities, universities, museums, and health foundations. These formative years established our reputation for integrity, research-led strategy, and donor-centred communication, while our publications and conference contributions helped shape sector knowledge.

During this time, Director Peter Dalton was also elected FIA National Chair, further reinforcing our leadership within Australian philanthropy.

1996-2005
National Growth & Influence

“Building trust, growing impact.”

DGB expanded its operations across Australia, delivering major gift campaigns across the full spectrum of for-purpose sectors.

During this time, the organisation introduced integrated Major Donor & Bequest Programs — among the first of their kind in the country — helping to reshape how charities approached long-term donor engagement.

The business also launched professional development opportunities, including training workshops and mentorship programs designed to strengthen the capability of non-profit fundraisers. Its client base continued to grow, extending to environmental and social justice organisations alongside traditional charitable sectors.

In 2000, DGB published The Key to Fundraising Success through Wrightbooks, further contributing to the sector’s knowledge base and supporting the growth of philanthropy in Australia.

2006-2015
Innovation & Leadership

“Changing the way Australia fundraises.”

We introduced integrated campaign strategy models that combined research, storytelling, and donor psychology, strengthening the way organisations engage with their supporters.

Our team led transformational fundraising campaigns for flagship institutions across the nation, delivering measurable impact and long-term results.

The DGB Global team also expanded to include a broader range of expertise, welcoming consultants, directors, and specialists to better support our clients’ diverse needs.

Our team’s achievements were recognised at the highest levels of the industry. Peter Dalton, DGB Director, received the FIA Arthur Venn Lifetime Achievement Award, the most prestigious honour in our field. Bianca Crocker earned the inaugural FIA Young Fundraiser of the Year Award and was a Finalist in the Global Fundraiser of the Year Award. She was also honoured as a Fellow of FIA in 2019, reflecting her outstanding contribution to fundraising.

2016-2020
Evolution & Rebrand

“Global reach, local heart.”

DGB formally adopted the name DGB Global, a change that reflected the organisation’s broader advisory services and increasingly international outlook.

During this time, the team also deepened its partnerships with regional and Indigenous organisations, helping to drive meaningful, place-based impact and support community-led outcomes.

In 2019, the organisation published Giving Hope: The Journey of the For-Purpose Organisation and Its Quest for Success through Palgrave McMillan, further contributing to thought leadership in the sector. Despite a rapidly shifting philanthropic environment, DGB Global successfully guided numerous clients through record-breaking campaigns, demonstrating resilience, innovation, and strategic clarity.

DGB also played an influential advocacy role, supporting the Fundraising Institute Australia in the introduction of the FIA Code of Ethics into formal fundraising regulation, strengthening accountability and professional standards across the industry.

2021-2025
Future-Focused Philanthropy

“Ethical. Strategic. Transformative.”

In the years following COVID, DGB Global continued to support clients in achieving exceptional philanthropic outcomes, demonstrating adaptability and strong strategic leadership during a time of rapid change.

The organisation also marked a significant milestone, celebrating 35 years of empowering generosity between 2024 and 2025 — a testament to more than three decades of impact, partnership, and sector leadership.

DGB Global strengthened its long-term commitment to responsible business by becoming Certified Sustainable, receiving independent accreditation for ethical and environmentally conscious practices. The organisation also achieved key milestones in its Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), reinforcing a lasting commitment to reconciliation, respect, and meaningful collaboration with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.

During this period, several members of the DGB team were recognised at the highest levels of the fundraising profession. Campaigns Director Luke Toebelmann and Campaign Lead Sabrina Thomas were named Australia’s FIA Young Fundraiser of the Year in 2021 and 2024 respectively. In addition, DGB Director James Garland served as FIA National Chair and, in 2025, was honoured as Australia’s FIA Fundraiser of the Year.
